Welcome to Art I & II for the 2020-2021 school year.
I am Ms. Hays and I am very excited to be your Art teacher and I look forward to getting to know you! I am excited to teach you about Art and help you create your own original works of Art this year!
We will explore a variety of Art concepts in class and I'm looking forward to helping you create some unique works and finding an art form you enjoy!
I have had the opportunity to teach Art to Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd grade students at a MAGNET school and 3rd-5th grade students as-well-as 6th, 7th, & 8th grade students within the Temple I.S.D. I have enjoyed getting to know 7th and 8th grade students at Gatesville Junior High over the last four years and I have fun working with my students-exploring and experimenting in Art within a laid-back yet structured atmosphere.
I like working with Art students and enjoy teaching them a variety of Art they have never explored before. I am a very
hands-on teacher, whether we are working on drawings and designs or creating three-dimensional works such as clay or papier mache. One of my goals this year is to have more guest artists in classes! There are many careers in Art and I hope many of my students will benefit from listening and observing Art demonstrations in class and hearing why the various artists enjoy what they do for a career.
I live on a ranch near Lampasas, Texas with my son, who is a Senior this year in Lampasas.
you name it! I feel photography is an Art form in itself! I see everything in drawings and photos!
I enjoy traveling and enjoy photographing famous landmarks as-well-as sightseeing and taking in various cultures. One of my favorite trips was to Paris, France and I enjoyed photographing Cathedral Notre-Dame and the Eiffel Tower and many other beautiful works of Art. The stained glass in the cathedrals in Europe are amazing! I am looking forward to visiting Rome and Spain among many other beautiful places soon. I plan on visiting the Picasso Art Museum while we are in Spain! I also enjoy painting with oils.
We have a Bengal cat who owns us! We also have some awesome rescue cats and a rescue dog who has boundless energy and he is named after a famous artist!
I look forward to students getting to use more Apple technology this year and can't wait to see what masterpieces come from this!
My students are involved in Art Memory and placed again last year!
Many students create works (their original ideas) for JR VASE competition and I recently had the REGIONAL WINNER so I am still ecstatic about that!
I feel very blessed to be a part of Gatesville Junior High and I look forward to teaching you!
Although I will be teaching my student artists at school as-well-as remote learners, this is a wonderful opportunity to use technology to be able to teach and to be able to look at your work and showcase it!
